LI is committed to providing academic pathways for students, and the purpose of graduate certificate courses is to provide advanced knowledge and skills for professional work and further learning in the relevant discipline area.

The Graduate Certificate in Management is designed to produce graduates who can make a positive contribution to society in management. The course will challenge students to analyse, evaluate, and communicate technical knowledge of management theories in a range of real-world scenarios.

The course draws on LI’s established expertise in management. The structure of this course is based on the first semester of the Master of Agricultural Information Management or Master of Business Administration (Agribusiness), allowing graduates to fast-track into the second semester of either Masters course. It also enables students to exit a higher course due to unforeseen personal or professional reasons, after the first semester with a fully accredited qualification.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Management may find employment in a management or marketing role in an agribusiness or other business or professional organisation. Additionally, graduates may choose to return to studies and progress along the pathway toward further studies in the discipline area of management.

The course structure is based on one semester (each semester is 12 teaching weeks, plus one review week and one exam week).

To qualify for award of Graduate Certificate in Management a candidate shall accrue an aggregate of at least 40 credit points, including satisfactory completion of the core units noted below.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Management will:

apply coherent understanding of principles and concepts of marketing, management, economics and finance in the agribusiness environment and their relevance to the national and global economy;
apply technical and creative skills, incorporating relevant information from various sources to generate and evaluate complex ideas related to agribusiness and agriculture;
critically analyse and assess the role of agribusiness in a global economy;
develop and demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, autonomy, critical thinking, and creativity as a practitioner and to transfer complex knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences;
develop cognitive skills to analyse and evaluate new information, concepts, and evidence from a range of business, industry, and academic sources

Scholarships

To promote excellence in scholarship and learning, Leaders Institute will offer scholarships to outstanding students for both courses starting Year 2.

A combination of merit and needs based scholarships by way of fee discount of 25% is available for both domestic and international students. To apply for this scholarship, please meet your Program Director.

Completion of an AQF Level 7 or above higher education qualification (or overseas equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (using a 7.0 point scale) in any field.

At least 7 years’ relevant professional experience, including 2 years in a managerial position.

Applicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally require an International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) of 6.0, with a score of not less than 5.5 in any of the four skill areas, or equivalent.

Applicants may be required to submit a detailed CV and 500-word Statement of Intent.

Consideration will be given to other factors such as practical experience, community service, maturity, motivation, and the likelihood of satisfactory completion of the academic requirements of the course.

Special admission pathways are also open for educationally disadvantaged applicants and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Alternative pathways are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director (or delegated representative).

Applicants with additional qualifications or professional experience may be eligible for advanced standing.
